Awards & Recognition

Merlin Award Keith Barry

Merlin Award

The Merlin Award to magic is what the Oscar is to the movies, what the Emmy is for television and what the Tony is for theatre. The Merlin Award is presented to those magicians who have achieved the highest level in their craft, both on the national and international stage. The criteria that the voting members consider are talent, showmanship, originality, skills, and above all the rare ability to entertain under any conditions. Previous winners of this prestigious award are world renowned magicians Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller and David Copperfield. Thus, it was a real honour when Keith was presented the award in 2009 for ‘Mentalist of the year’.

James Joyce Award 2019 Keith Barry

James Joyce Award

The James Joyce Award, also known as the Honorary Fellowship of the Society, is an award given by the Literary and Historical Society (L&H) of University College Dublin (UCD) for those who have achieved outstanding success in their given field.  Recipients have ranged from respected academics, lauded political figures, skilled actors and, like James Joyce himself, writers. It is the highest award that an Irish University society can give. It is named after one of the society’s most distinguished alumni, James Joyce, the author of Dubliners, Ulysses, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Finnegans Wake. Joyce was a student in UCD from 1898 to 1903, where he studied modern languages.

Some previous recipients of the award include actor Ralph Fiennes, singer songwriter Emeli Sandé, world champion Pádraig Harrington and author of the infamous Harry Potter series, JK Rowling. Keith was chosen as the recipient of this honorary award in 2019.

Magician of the Year

Keith won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Magician at The Las Vegas Review Journal’s Best of Las Vegas Awards.
